How the MTG card scanner works

    Photograph a binder page

    One sharp, well-lit photo of a binder page is enough: up to 9 cards are detected at once.

    Each card is recognized

    Image recognition identifies the card and suggests its set. If a card is misidentified, you can fix it in a few clicks.

    Prices appear

    Each recognized card gets an estimated price, and your scans feed your online collection.

Where do the price estimates come from?

Estimates are based on market prices published by Scryfall (Cardmarket prices in euros, or a conversion of the US price when no euro price is available). They update automatically.

An estimate is a reference point: condition, language, finish (foil or not) and current demand all affect the real selling price. For valuable cards, always check the suggested set and your copy’s condition.

What can you do after scanning?

  • Find your cards in an organized collection you can browse anytime.
  • List the cards you no longer play for sale or trade.
  • Get notified when a player is looking for a card you own (wishlists).
  • Choose your collection’s visibility: private or public.

Is the MTG card scanner free?

Yes. Scanning your cards and building your collection is free. MTG Trade only earns a 4% commission on sales paid online.

Do I need to install an app?

No. The scanner works in the browser on your phone or computer.

Does the scanner recognize the card’s set?

It suggests the most likely set. For cards reprinted in many sets, check it and correct it if needed: the set determines the price.

Can I scan other card games?

Yes, MTG Trade also has dedicated spaces for Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh!.
